Announcing 2025 Nature Club Hikes

By Katie Borgfjord, Digital Marketing Coordinator

Over the past four years, your passion for the great outdoors has been the driving force behind the growth of our Nature Club. You’ve told us what you love, what you’d like to see more of, and what could be improved—and we’ve listened! From your requests for longer hikes to your suggestions for new trails, your feedback has inspired exciting new changes.

For 2025 we are excited to roll out MULTIPLE new CPAWS Manitoba hikes and workshops alongside some fantastic website upgrades to make exploring easier than ever! Our improved Event Listings sign-up page is now more user-friendly and seamless.

We’ve created a hiking map and database of all our favourite Nature Club trails, tracking all the info you may need to head out on a hike yourself. Check out our new map on the Manitoba Hike page to explore both familiar and new trails- just click a pin to uncover details like accessibility ratings, parking options, the best season to visit, and fascinating trail history!

Whether you’re joining us in 2025 for a CPAWS Manitoba classic or trying one of our fresh adventures, we’ve done the work to ensure every outing is memorable.

Why We Do Hikes

Our Nature Club hikes are more than just a way to explore Manitoba’s beautiful landscapes—they are a step toward achieving the 30×30 initiative. By spending more time in nature, we deepen our connection to the land, fostering a greater appreciation for the ecosystems we aim to conserve. Every hike is an opportunity to witness the breathtaking diversity of our province’s lands and waters. Through these experiences, we cultivate a sense of stewardship, inspiring participants to support efforts that protect 30% of Manitoba’s lands and waters by 2030.

When people experience nature firsthand, they see its value not just as a resource, but as an irreplaceable part of our lives and identity. Our hikes bring communities together to celebrate the beauty of the environment while underscoring the urgency of conservation. By connecting people to the outdoors, our Nature Club helps to build momentum for initiatives like 30×30, ensuring that future generations can enjoy the same pristine landscapes we cherish today.

2025 Hikes

For 2025, we’re taking Nature Club to the next level with new destinations and improved accessibility—and we can’t wait for you to join us!

Here’s the plan: we’ll explore a different corner of Manitoba on the first Saturday of every month (unless its a holiday weekend). These hikes are designed to help you feel at ease in nature, deepen your connection to the outdoors, and meet some friendly faces along the way.

We’re bringing back beloved favourites like Cedar Bog, Assiniboine Forest, and the St. Adolphe Friendship Trail, while adding exciting new adventures to the lineup, including Narcisse Snake Dens, Brokenhead Wetland, Bunn’s Creek, and the Kingfisher Trail.

Event Feedback:

“I love hiking with CPAWS. This is a great way to explore new places for me. The facilitators are always so friendly and encourage people to explore and set their own pace for walking the trails. I would definitely not have found these trails to explore on my own. I learned about a new birding app and made good use of my own plant identification app to identify some of the plants along the way. This is how you get to know Manitoba biodiversity!”
— Dr. Yvonne Vizina, Nature Club Participant.

“I really appreciated how the facilitators made sure to include everyone on the trail. They kept us informed about what to expect at every point, creating an amiable atmosphere. I had a lot of fun and can’t wait to go again.”
-Juliet, 45, Nature Club Participant.

Thanks to all our Nature Club members for making this possible! Thanks for showing up for our events time and time again, and sharing feedback to help make it better!

We can’t wait to see you out on the trails!  Let’s make 2025 our best year yet!

Stay Tuned, 2025 Summer Workshops and Paddle Night dates will also be announced soon!
