CPAWS Nature Club Craft Workshops

Join CPAWS Manitoba Nature Club Craft Workshops to connect with fellow nature lovers as we explore creative ways to celebrate the environment through hands-on, eco-friendly crafts, sharing knowledge on green living, reusing, and recycling.

This club is built to provide accessibility to nature focused activities. Nature Club is a place to share ideas, make new friends, and take home unique creations inspired by nature, especially over the dark Winnipeg winter months. So far, our crafts have included Junk Journaling, Paper Crafts, and Linocut Cards.

Our Craft Workshops are held once a month with space for 13 people, to sustain a cosy and welcoming environment. Since our first Craft Workshop in November 2025, CPAWS Manitoba has crafted alongside 78 people and counting! These help build a one on one community with our CPAWS following to encourage future engagement in other events, postcard signatures, and donations.

Nature Club Workshops were created with three important pieces in mind: Grounding, Eco-Friendly, and Community Building.

1. Grounding

Crafting offers more than just a creative outlet.

It’s a way to slow down, connect with others, and express yourself in a tangible, meaningful way. In today’s fast-paced world, taking time to make something with your hands can be grounding and restorative—especially when surrounded by people who share your passion for nature.

2. Eco-Friendly

Our workshops focus on low-waste, low-impact projects, and making use of recycled, second-hand, or natural materials.

Junk journaling, for example, transforms items like old magazines, ticket stubs, and forgotten paper scraps into expressive art pieces. Upcycled crafts encourage crafters to rethink everyday items and see the creative potential in what might otherwise be thrown away.

Each workshop highlights simple ways to reduce waste while still making something beautiful. You’ll leave not only with a handmade creation, but with new ideas for sustainable crafting at home.

3. Community Building

We started a monthly craft night workshop to focus on building a community of like-minded creative nature lovers.

From launching major initiatives to connecting with communities across the province, 2025 was a big year for CPAWS. At CPAWS Manitoba, our team put their hearts into conservation—one meeting, one workshop, and one hike at a time. With help from partners, Green Kids and Orienteering Manitoba, we expanded our Nature Club workshop lineup, giving families and adventurers of all ages fun new ways to explore nature. Think treasure hunts, outdoor games, and moments of pure wonder. We wanted to continue this passion for nature beyond the spring, summer, and fall.

We’re so excited about our upcoming Craft Workshops which include Spring Equinox Bouquets, Learn to Mend and Sew, and Prairie Garden Seed Balls. Partnering with crafty local creators is what this is all about, and getting to create Eco-friendly art alongside you makes it even more enjoyable!

Your Kind Words About Our Craft Workshops

“I loved doing junk journaling hosted by Katie. I’m inspired to continue doing it using what I already have, things I may collect in my everyday life, and magazines or books bought second hand. It’s a fun way to be creative while having a low impact on the earth.”  – Junk Journal Crafter

“This activity is very calming and enjoyable. I think the best way is to be done in a group and be able to engage with like minded people and build community!” – Community Creator

“The location is good and the inside is cosy.” – Comfy Cosy Crafter
