Baudry Trail Cross Country Ski up-2025
“This was a great opportunity to discover a new to me, park trail. Was nice to have the volunteers and other participants there,” said a Nature club participant.
Around 20 people came out to Ste. Agathe last weekend to participate in our free ski up on Baudry trail. Nature club participants enjoyed free ski rentals, in partnership with Ritchot Recreation. CPAWS led 2 skis groups, one at 11 am, and another at 1:30. CPAWS staff and volunteers helped participants along the trail, as everyone from first-timers and seasoned skiers attended!
We love getting outside in the winter months, but not everyone does. We made the adventure a little easier by bringing along hot chocolate and a having a bonfire! Participants relaxed after their ski and got to meet some new nature loving people!
“Great chance to connect with nature and meet people,” said a Nature Club participant.
Baudry Trail ski up event was hosted in partnership with Ritchot Recreation. Leaders of the RM, they host tons of events to encourage people to get outside and stay active.
“We always love partnering with CPAWS Manitoba, and this event was no exception – it’s always a fun collaboration! We were thrilled to have the opportunity to bring our skis for people to borrow for free, which aligns perfectly with our motto at Ritchot Recreation: low cost or no cost. Baudry Trail is one of the most beautiful trails in Manitoba, (in our opinion, haha!) and it was so exciting to host this event and welcome people to our neck of the woods, many of whom had never been here before,” said Danielle Peters, Ritchot Recreation Coordinator of Community Engagement.
About the Trail:
This was CPAWS Nature Club first time heading out onto Baudry Trail and we LOVED it!
The 1.26 km loop trail offers an easy and enjoyable experience, making it ideal for all skill levels. If you’re up to explore more there are 1.8 km total of trails, and all of it is groomed to cross-country ski! Its also open all year round! The short trail makes it about a 20 min hike, or a 30 min cross country ski. If you are new to skiing this is the perfect trail for you! You can start with one loop, then decide if you are comfortable enough to go on it again. Many people did 2-3 loops of the trail.
“The weather was perfect for cross-country skiing as it was a little chilly before we got going, but once we were on the trails, nestled between the trees out of the wind and working up a sweat, it was perfect! The trails were wonderfully groomed and we had a good time remembering how to ski and chatting as a group,” said Claire Woodbury, CPAWS Conservation Campaign Manager.
