Adventure’s calling — and 2026 is packed with brand-new ways to answer! 

We’re beyond excited to unveil a whole new year of adventures for 2026! From forest trails to prairie views, explore stunning and accessible landscapes in southern Manitoba. Whether you’re up for a guided interpretive walk, a friendly group hike, a ski trip, or a snowshoe adventure — your next great outdoor memory starts here!

We’ll bring you to FOUR NEW locations (new to our Nature Club) like the Living Prairie Museum, Henteleff Park, Alfred Hole Goose Sanctuary, and Whittier park! Let’s take a look at all our upcoming hikes for 2026, and don’t forget to click the link to sign up!

Winter

January: Snowshoe Walk-NEW!

Kick off the new year with a snowy adventure! Join us this January for a beginner-friendly introduction to snowshoeing — snowshoes included! We’ll explore the Living Prairie Museum, a rare and protected slice of endangered tall grass prairie right here in the city. After the walk, pop into the interpretive centre to learn more about the plants and wildlife that call this special landscape home.

February: Ski on Beaudry Trails

Glide into winter fun with us this February at Beaudry Provincial Park! Join our guided cross-country ski adventure and take in the quiet beauty of snow-covered forests and frozen rivers. Whether you’re an experienced skier or trying it for the first time, this outing is all about fresh air, good company, and winter wonder. (Remember to bring your own skis!)

March: Group hike in La Barriere Park

Just a short drive from the city, La Barrière Park offers 323 acres of beautiful greenspace and winding trails along the scenic La Salle River. For a peaceful walk, the La Barrière Park Loop is perfect, a gentle 3 km trail that takes about an hour to complete. Ideal for beginners, families, or anyone craving a quiet escape into the outdoors.

Spring

April: Group Hike in Kings Park

Join us for a relaxing and accessible nature walk through the Kings Park trail, located right in the heart of the city. This easy 3.5 km loop takes approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour to complete, making it perfect for all fitness levels.

May: Group Hike in Narcisse

Join us for a fun group hike to the famous Narcisse Snake Dens, home to the largest concentration of garter snakes in the world. In spring and fall, thousands of red-sided garter snakes gather here, offering a unique spectacle as they emerge from their winter dens.

Summer

June: Group Hike in Henteleff Park-NEW!

Join us at this natural urban oasis in Henteleff Park, where history and tradition thrive in perfect harmony. This unique park preserves the natural landscape and character of the early Metis culture. We will visit the city’s oldest cottonwood trees and hear the gorgeous birdcalls that pervade the park in June, with over 150 songbirds that find refuge here.

July: Group hike Brokenhead Wetland trail

Discover the natural beauty of the Brokenhead Wetland Trail.

This easy, level trail is a mix of gravel and boardwalk, offering a peaceful journey through a unique wetland environment. Along the way, enjoy informative signage that explains the local ecology, highlights common plant species, and shares the cultural significance these plants hold for the Indigenous peoples of the area.This is a guided interpretive hike that will take longer than normal as we stop to chat and look at things! August: Group Hike in Assiniboine Forest

Join us for a relaxing group hike through Assiniboine Forest, one of the largest urban forests in Canada! Just minutes from downtown Winnipeg, this peaceful oasis is home to old-growth trees, wetlands, and plenty of wildlife — from songbirds to white-tailed deer. 

We’ll wander along the Sagimay, Traverse, and Preston Trail loop, taking time to enjoy the scenic boardwalk and marsh views. It’s the perfect way to slow down, breathe in the fresh air, and reconnect with nature without leaving the city.

Autumn

September: Group Hike Alfred Hole Goose Sanctuary Interpretive Trail-NEW!

Step back in time and soak up the natural beauty of Whiteshell on this scenic adventure. Founded in 1939, this historic site is a true gem — a peaceful haven where hundreds of geese pause during their spring and fall migrations.

The short trail leads to a majestic waterfall, where the sound of rushing water creates a soothing backdrop for reflection and connection with nature. After the hike, we’ll stop by the visitor centre, where friendly volunteers are happy to share stories and answer questions about the area’s rich history and ecology.

A perfect outing for anyone who loves a mix of history, wildlife, and natural beauty — all wrapped into one unforgettable stop in the Whiteshell.

October: Group Hike in Stony Mountain Quarry 

Explore the limestone quarry with the beautiful fall leaves. The Stony Mountain Quarry Trail takes visitors on a leisurely hike through a mix of natural and urban environments just minutes north of Winnipeg’s Perimeter Highway.

The 2.1 km trail passes through a small forest to find the quarry on the other side where it continues along the edge. You can spot remnants of the mining history including jutting limestone ledges, abandoned excavations and a quarry pond at the base. The hike will continue on to the nearby .7 km Assiniwa Trail and .7 km Prairie Trail, 3.5 kms in all.

Winter

November: Group Hike on Cedar Bog Trail

We’ll take our time exploring the 3.5 km loop of the Cedar Bog trail— a gentle trail that winds through mixed forest, open meadows, and a stunning cedar bog. A highlight of the hike is the scenic boardwalk, where you can pause to admire the delicate mosses, tamarack trees, and the peaceful stillness of the wetland. Keep an eye out for birds and wildlife that call this special ecosystem home!

December: Group hike in Whittier Park-NEW!

Join us at this hidden gem in a lovely riverside, Whittier Park. Nestled on the banks of the Red River in the heart of St. Boniface, this trail will allow you a peek at historic Fort Gibraltar as we travel down beautiful, tree-lined paths.
