We are seeking a creative, motivated, and environmentally passionate individual who can
bring CPAWS Manitoba’s conservation work to life through engaging digital storytelling. The
ideal candidate is comfortable working in both outdoor and office settings, enjoys capturing
real-world moments as they happen, and can turn environmental work into compelling content
for a wide range of audiences. This role requires someone who is adaptable, organized, and
eager to learn, with a strong interest in environmental issues and public communications.

About You:
You are someone who enjoys storytelling through photos, video, and writing, and you’re
excited about using those skills to support environmental protection work. You have an interest
in conservation, climate change, or outdoor education, and you’re motivated by the idea of
helping people connect with nature through media.
You are comfortable working in dynamic environments, including field settings, community
events, and office-based editing and planning work. You take initiative, can manage multiple
tasks at once, and are willing to learn new tools and systems as part of a supportive team.
Experience with social media platforms, basic photo/video editing, or content creation is an
asset, but not required—we are more interested in your creativity, willingness to learn, and
passion for environmental storytelling.

Overview:
The Social Media & Content Assistant will support and enhance CPAWS Manitoba’s digital
communications by helping translate conservation work into compelling public storytelling. This
contract role will supplement the work of the existing communications team, providing
additional capacity to create engaging and timely content that highlights environmental
protection, biodiversity conservation, and climate and nature solutions.

The employee will be responsible for producing and publishing social media content, capturing
media at field-based conservation activities and community events, and assisting with blog and
video content. This role is intended to amplify CPAWS Manitoba’s online presence and
strengthen public awareness of protected areas, wildlife habitat conservation, and ongoing
environmental initiatives across Manitoba.

Scope of Work:
 Create, edit, and schedule engaging content for social media platforms (Instagram,
Facebook, TikTok, YouTube) in alignment with CPAWS Manitoba’s communications
strategy.
 Capture and produce photos and video content during outreach events, education
programs, and other activities.
 Write blog posts and website copy highlighting CPAWS Manitoba initiatives and
community involvement.
 Support the Outreach and Education teams by documenting key activities and sharing
live or time-sensitive content.
 Collaborate with the Communications Manager to maintain consistent messaging and
tone.
 Assist with monitoring social media trends and identifying opportunities for audience
engagement.
 Help organize and maintain a content calendar in coordination with existing
communications planning.

Deliverables:
 A consistent stream of scheduled and real-time social media content throughout the
duration of their term with CPAWS
 A minimum number of blog posts (to be determined in consultation with
Communications Manager)
 Short-form video content from events, field trips, and other summer activities
 Archived media (photos and video) from events and outreach activities, organized for
future use
 Weekly content reports or updates, as agreed upon

Schedule:
This position will require office shifts, remote shifts from home office, on-location attendance
at events, field trips, and community programs.
The contractor must be available to work some evenings and weekends.
A flexible work schedule will be accommodated based on event timing, workload and
availability.

Additional Notes:
The contractor will report directly to the Communications Manager. Regular check-ins will be
scheduled to align on priorities, deliverables, and scheduling flexibility.
This is a temporary, project-based contract position intended to expand CPAWS Manitoba’s
communications capacity. It is distinct from the existing Digital Marketing Coordinator role and
does not include long-term strategic planning responsibilities.
