New Large Protected Areas on Manitoba’s East Side

First Nation’s plans approved

January 14, 2013

“We are delighted the plans have been approved through legislation,” said Ron Thiessen, executive director of the Canadian Parks & Wilderness Society’s Manitoba chapter. “The thousands of square kilometers of wild lands and waters that are now protected in their natural state is a victory for local communities, all Manitobans, and threatened species such as woodland caribou.”

CPAWS is at the forefront of inspiring tens of thousands of Manitobans to officially support large-scale conservation and sustainable communities on the east side of Lake Winnipeg.
