Manitoba Makes Forest Count

Manitoba Lieutenant Governor Phillip S. Lee delivered today’s Speech from the Throne

During today’s Throne Speech, the Manitoba government announced it will fully incorporate forestry into Manitoba’s Climate Change Plan. This action, which CPAWS has been encouraging for years, is supported by research that demonstrates the value of Boreal forests and peatlands in curbing global climate change. The Boreal Region is the world’s terrestrial storehouse of carbon – it keeps carbon in the trees and soils and away from our atmosphere.

As the next step, CPAWS is asking the Manitoba government to include the following in its Climate Change Action Plan:
