Manitoba announces Green Plan “We’re pleased with the province’s commitment to protecting the sizeable woodland caribou habitats that this threatened species and all our treasured boreal forest wildlife need for survival,” said Ron Thiessen, executive director of the Manitoba chapter of the Canadian Parks & Wilderness Society. “Equally welcoming is the initiative to expand the area of some provincial parks in concert with creating a host of new parks and protected areas. As healthy wilderness landscapes provide us with fresh air and clean water, everyone’s well-being will benefit greatly. CPAWS looks forward to working with the government and all involved to achieve the goal of making Manitoba the best in Canada when it comes to conserving wild lands and waters.”
