After watching the tree identification video, find a tree in your neighbourhood or nearby park that you feel connected to. Take a few moments to sit with the tree. How do you feel? What drew you to this particular tree? How would you describe the tree? Try to identify the tree.
Take a leaf or needles from your chosen tree to create a print . Continue to move through your neighbourhood or park. Create a tally sheet of the trees that you find. How many of each tree can you find? Where are they located?
Share your art print with your peers and your experience with the tree! Notice which trees and prints your classmates share. What do their prints look like? What were their experiences like? You can also share your tally sheet with your class and create a compilation of the different types of trees found!
Return to your special neighbourhood tree on a regular basis to see how it changes and grows throughout the year!
