The Manigotagan River begins in Ontario. It crosses the Manitoba border where it proceeds to flow through Nopiming and Manigotagan River provincial parks until it empties its nourishing waters into Lake Winnipeg. CPAWS Manitoba Executive Director Ron Thiessen’s trip with the Manitoba Eco-Network began about 10 kilometers west of the Manitoba/Ontario border.

In August 2006, CPAWS Manitoba Executive Director Ron Thiessen joined the Manitoba Eco-Network on one of its trips along the Manigotagan River. Ron’s trip was in support of the Eco-Network’s Manigotagan River Web-Based GIS Project that’s designed to create online resources and a published map dedicated to knowledgeable and responsible tourism on the river. It’s all part of CPAWS efforts to put conservation and communities first in the huge boreal forests on the east side of Lake Winnipeg.
